Garment-Specific Care
Every coat is built differently.
A work jacket and a winter parka are not the same garment. Here is what we look at before deciding how to care for yours.
- Material
- Wool, down-filled nylon, canvas, and blends each respond differently to cleaning.
- Care label
- The manufacturer’s instructions are our starting point.
- Lining
- Linings can differ from the outer fabric and affect the method.
- Insulation
- Fill and quilting are considered before anything is cleaned.
- Trim
- Fur, buttons, zippers, and decorative details may need special handling.
- Condition
- Wear, loose seams, and existing damage matter before cleaning.
General cleaning is not a waterproofing or specialty treatment, and results depend on the garment.
Seasonal Care
Three habits that help your coat.
- 1
Point out stains and damage. At drop-off, show us spots, tears, loose buttons, or worn areas, including anything from the season.
- 2
Ask about timing. If you need a coat by a certain day, ask us when you bring it in.
- 3
Clean before storage. Suitable garments are best cleaned before they go into seasonal storage.
